About the Campaign
In Sri Lanka, widowhood often carries a heavy burden, particularly for those in impoverished communities. Losing a spouse can strip women of economic stability, social standing, and emotional security, leaving them vulnerable in a society where cultural and economic challenges compound their struggles. Our charity’s campaign to support poor widows is rooted in compassion and justice, aiming to restore dignity, provide essential resources, and empower these women to rebuild their lives. This initiative reflects the universal values of care and community, ensuring that no widow is left to face hardship alone.
Our program provides immediate relief through food packages, including nutrient-rich staples like rice, lentils, and fresh produce, items that are often luxuries for families surviving on minimal resources. We also offer vocational training in skills like sewing, handicrafts, or small-scale farming, enabling widows to earn a sustainable income. This economic empowerment is critical, as many are primary caregivers for children or elderly relatives, and their ability to provide directly impacts future generations.
