About the Campaign
Qurban, translated from the Arabic term “sacrifice,” is a sacred Islamic ritual observed during Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice. It commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command, symbolising devotion, faith, and submission to divine will. Muslims perform Qurban by sacrificing livestock and distributing the meat to family, friends, and those in need. This act embodies charity, community, and gratitude, reinforcing the values of compassion and sharing.
Our Qurban campaign brings this profound tradition to life by providing fresh, high-quality meat to impoverished families in Sri Lanka, where such nourishment is a rare luxury. For many in these communities, daily meals are a struggle, often limited to basic staples like rice or lentils. Meat, rich in protein and essential nutrients, is scarce due to its high cost, making it an unattainable treat for countless households. Each portion provides not only physical nourishment but also a sense of dignity and inclusion in the celebration of Eid. Â
